A little about Kimber...

Kimber Dempsey Realtor in entryway

Born and raised in Colorado, I know the city from from Thornton to Colorado Springs, and Evergreen to Elizabeth. I know where to find unique homes and properties throughout town. Did you know there are even Mid Century Modern equestrian properties? My mother, Brenda Dempsey has sold homes in Colorado for over 40 years and she currently sells in Chaffee County. Growing up going in and out of houses helped grow my love of real estate, and eventually becoming a Realtor. It’s wonderful to have such a knowledgeable mentor starting at a young age. I grew up in a Writer built home in Willow Creek, and then we made our way to Castle Pines and Parker. Our city has grown from the “Cow Town” we used to be known as to a large developing area, and it takes an expert to help you navigate.

Why does this matter? I am passionate in everything that I do, and passionate about things that I love! I truly believe everyone deserves to be a homeowner and own a home that can reflect their passions and person- ality. Education is a big part of my business. I strive to teach you how to care for your home, recognize what makes it unique and if you need to renovate, what is the best way to do it sensitively. I love to be around people who love architecture, and I love to teach people what makes homes unique. There truly is some- thing special about every home. People deserve the right house and the best treatment making the largest investment most of us make in our lives. I love saving houses by educating buyers and sellers to preserve the history of their unique homes. I consider myself very fortunate to make a living doing what I love.

Historic Littleton

I am a Littleton resident, and I was invit- ed to join the board to be a proponent for Mid Century Modern architecture in Littleton. Throughout Littleton there are phenomenal Mid Century Modern residences and commercial properties. These properties are just coming of age, and the public is learning how special they are. As Littleton grows these properties need to be highlighted so they can be around for future generations to enjoy.

DocomomoUS ColoradoChapter

Through exploration, documentation, and education, Docomomo US/Colorado advocates for the preservation, conservation, and adaptive reuse of modern-era architecture, landscapes, planning, and design in Colorado. This is our mission statement. Colorado is in a time of rapid development which means more properties are endangered. It takes more than one person to make a difference, which is why I joined the board. It gives me a platform to unite and educate people who love modern architecture.

Denver Modernism Week

Denver Modernism Week is something that I used to volunteer for every year. The community of Mid Century Modern enthusiasts is a fantastic group, we are working on new programming in partnership with DAF and Docomomo US/CO.  I like to help bring people with a passion together, and help those who have just found an interest in everything Mid Century Modern have a place to gather information and friends. Not to mention the education piece is crucial. The home tours and talks provide education and valuable re- sources to homeowners and enthusiasts alike. The more people are educated, the more these wonderful homes will get the attention and care they deserve.

On a personal note...

I truly am crazy about all things mid-century. From vintage clothes and furni- ture to breeze blocks and hot rods. I own a 1958 Cadillac Coupe deVille, and I am known to spend weekends traveling to car shows from Colorado to California. Prior to becoming a realtor, I was a co-owner of Brixton

Barbers (my husband is in charge now) and I loved creating vintage styles for special events. Most days you will find me in vintage clothing ranging from 1940s dresses to a vibrant 1960s caftan.

On a day off you might find me at a Mighty Mighty Bosstones concert, or a local Tiki bar. I grew up loving punk and ska music and it’s still a big part of my life. My husband and I are

horror movie buffs. We love going to Universal Studios, especially in October for Halloween Horror Nights. A trip to Trader Sam’s always follows a long day at Universal Studios. When I’m at home you might find me hanging out with our two Scottish Terriers, Sassy and MacReady in our Tiki Room, or playing boardgames with friends. Our home is filled with Mid Century Modern furniture, decor, and art.

During the day you will find me showing houses, going to inspections, or riding my horses. I am an avid equestrian and I have ridden hunter/jumper for 30 years. I have three horses to spend time with. There really is nothing like riding to clear my mind. I even have a degree in Equine Science from Colorado State University.

I’ve never met anyone so passionate and invested in Midcentry Modern Homes. Kimber has literally immersed herself in the community as one of the go-to sources for people who love these homes. I swear if she was talking about an MCM home and you cut her head off she’d keep talking for another ten minutes at least, and you’d be learning stuff the whole time.
